What’s the first impression you want to give people?
The old saying “first impressions are lasting” is not necessarily true. Impressions can be changed. Is it truly the first impression or the first judgement about someone that last? Have you ever met someone that you disliked immediately? Then later as the opportunity arose to get to know that person, you came to like or at least appreciate them.
Well, first impressions don’t have to be lasting impressions. Maybe the initial dislike of them was something you saw in yourself but have not truly addressed.
I have been guilty of this more times than I care to admit. When you recognize that your first impression is wrong, that is a sign that you are gaining wisdom. You have seen the flaw and decided to not be that way.
I would love to leave people feeling better than when I first encounter them. I would love to encourage rather than harm. Have I always been that way? Sadly, no but GOD is working on me daily to make me more like Jesus.
