Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved?
Have you ever been somewhere where you knew you were loved regardless of your faults, strengths, weaknesses, looks, personality or what you could bring to the table? Feeling loved is not the same as being loved. The experiences in my life have allowed both feelings.
We are all products of our environment and upbringing. Whether you grew up feeling loved or just knowing you were, we all want to be loved and accepted for just being us. My childhood was not idyllic but I was loved and taken care of; however, I didn’t feel loved all the time.
In my world, having a roof overhead, having a full belly, nice soft bed and clean clothes meant I was loved. Did I see that at the time? No. Most children do not appreciate those “little” things. I was fortunate enough to have a good family and I was safe.
Humans are created for community and physical touch. Without either, no one would be here. But feeling loved is different for everyone. I feel loved when I am emotionally and physically (hugs) close to people.
Years ago, I had the opportunity to go to a weekend with women I did not know nor did I want to. But as the weekend progressed I realized the love these women showed me was totally unconditional. They served me, cried with me, laughed with me, encouraged me and just were present.
There was no judgement of what my occupation was, kind of clothes I wore or whether my makeup was perfect. They accepted me with my messy life and all my faults. The only other person who shows that love is Jesus.
Being loved is freedom. Freedom from self importance, bank accounts, material possessions, cars, titles or education. Jesus loves us each just like that. Mess and all, He will never leave you or forsake you. When you are at your lowest, He is there. When you are at your best, He is there. When you are in the middle of the mess, He is there and will turn your mess into His message.
Being loved by my Savior is the best love I have ever experienced. If you don’t know Jesus, reach out to me thru here and I will introduce you to the one who loves you always, anytime, anywhere right where you are. No need to be perfect for His love.
