All things are both good and bad. It is how you choose to perceive it. An accident that could have taken your life can be a blessing when it helps you appreciate what you have rather than what you don’t. It can help you realize what is most important. It is not money, material possessions, or pride. It IS relationships, love and putting God first in your life.
Recently I had the occasion to meet someone who was in an accident that could have taken his life. By God’s grace, he lived because his mission is not yet complete. Maybe he will use the accident as a blessing to others to show them there is more to life. He told me that he saw “the light and a figure” but he knew he wasn’t supposed to go there yet.
When one experiences life or death situations, that is a pivotal point in their life. They can live in the sorrow and pity and anger of what they lost whether that is a limb or function of a body part or a person or they can choose to be grateful God allowed them to live and bring others to Him.
Each day you open your eyes, it is your choice how to be. How will you be today? Irritated that you experienced inconvenience or grateful that God protected you from something? Not every delay or inconvenience is designed to hinder you but possibly to save you from further harm.
“Today is the day that the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
It may not be easy but try it today. Everyday is a gift – but you have to accept it as such. It will not always be a gift you want but maybe it is the lesson that gift brings.
