If you could un-invent something, what would it be?
If I could un-invent something, it would be AI. I’m sure that it has good qualities but I personally feel that it makes people lazy. It is the microwave way of doing things that require time and attention that you do not wish to give up because something is more important.
For instance, if I need to research a medicine for recommendations will I just accept what “Siri or Alexa” give me? No, I will do my own research because AI is artificial intelligence. It only knows what someone has programmed it to know. And if the programmer did not research the answer themselves how can you trust the answer?
Just like a therapist can teach you what they know, but is that necessarily the correct way? If I just blindly trust them to guide me when they haven’t experienced the same thing, how is that helpful?
There is a generation of people that don’t believe that the “elder” generation can tell them anything relevant to today’s world. Wisdom comes from walking the road of correction and experience. Personally, I do not trust another’s answer if they have not experienced what I am seeking guidance for.
We live in a world of robots and computers and smart devices that make us lazy, distracted, disconnected and give us false information. Wouldn’t you rather trust someone who has walked the walk, driven the road or experienced the pain?
The only way to stop repeating the past is by learning from those who lived it. You might try to rewrite your life according to what you need to believe, but is it the truth or just a lie to keep you distracted from healing? Facing your fears, traumas and hurts is more healing than avoidance because an AI therapist told you this is what to do.
Human connection is what we are created for. Not silence and make believe. Talk to someone whose opinion you value that is grounded in the truth. Only a real human can understand real human emotions and issues and help you grow into the person God intended you to be.
